Matthew Pye is the Founder of The Climate Academy (est. 2012) and has been Head of Philosophy at the European School Brussels II (since 2007). As a public speaker, Matthew has given lectures at Cambridge University, the EU Commission, and many schools around the world. He is a regular speaker at media and cultural events, such as the ZEG Storytelling Festival (Tbilisi).
His book “Plato Tackles Climate Change” (2021) examines the blind-spots of democracy concerning the crisis, and points forward to the power of the key leverage point for change – education and the law.
He is committed to the open, public understanding of science. At the heart of the Climate Academy is a 360 page, 360° guide, “The Climate Academy Student Book”. It is available to anyone for free, as an invitation to students, teachers and individuals to engage with the crisis in a systems informed way.
